Although I was born in England my childhood roots were in the hot and vast terrains of Zimbabwe. From a very young age I felt the world with an intensity that the adults around me found difficult to manage. This emotional sensitivity proved to be in reality the seed of a great desire to understand and soothe other’s internal pain. My journey then led me to Cape Town, South Africa, where I did my university studies. However this period of life was marked by the emergence of panic attacks. Despite these challenges I graduated determined to not allow anxiety to dictate my future. But I was by no means flourishing.
I returned to England where a new life awaited me. However the shadows of anxiety in particular were never far and dictated to a large extent what I felt capable of achieving. I only understood the roots of my suffering ten years later when I decided to consult with a psychologist myself. During this period I also obtained a Masters in Positive Psychology which provided me with the tools and knowledge which I had been looking for. Slowly but surely I began to redefine myself. I learned to transform my pain into strength, my anxiety into empathy and my depression into compassion. Today I am flourishing and passionate that others find their path towards emotional stability. My personal journey has shown me that, even in the most sombre of moments, there is a light.
My story is not just one of a battle against anxiety and depression but one of reawakening. A reawakening which has allowed me to transform my past into a life mission; to accompany individuals towards a serene and stable future. My hope is that together we can find the peace and flourishing that we all deserve.
